Looking to organise a Birthday Celebration?

Organising a birthday party can be a stressful time for parents, but we are very experienced in hosting parties and are here to help you every step of the way and to ensure you have a hassle free party where everyone has lots of fun!

For Birthday Parties we have 2 options:

  1. Recreational session – where you provide the supervision on a untimed session
  2. Instructor led parties – where we guide the climbers on a 3hr timed session

So what’s involved in a party at High Ropes Oxford? Both options suitable for birthday parties are different so it really depends on how involved you want to be and if you want to be responsible for doing the supervising or not.

Option 1:
High Ropes recreational session – Our most popular tickets! Great birthday parties of all sizes where you provide adult supervision for any under 18 climbers on a ratio of 1:4

  • With our recreational high ropes course option, you can enjoy the course in your own time at your own pace and this includes all 3 zones and the powerfan simulator jump.
  • On arrival you will hand in your completed Disclaimers for all climbers, under 18’s need parental consent to climb and then you will go through our booking in and Briefing procedure. An instructor will then kit up your group and all other climbers in that session and fit them with all safety belays and a harness. Once everyone in the session is kitted up, the instructor will take you over to our Induction Zone. Here you will be briefed on safety, our belay system, how to negotiate and attach to the elements and other safety procedures by the instructor. Here all climbers will need to demonstrate that they are competent to continue with the course by completing the induction activities safely. Once your instructor is happy you can do this and has signed you off, you will then begin the first element where your tree top adventure will begin!!
  • The supervisors you provide for climbers under 18 years are responsible for monitoring and supervising the climbers safety at all times. Our instructors will be on hand at all times and will regularly patrol the course to see if you need any help. Supervision for any climbers under the age of 18 years is required on a ratio of 1 adult (over 18 years) to every 4 climbers over 10 years and over 140cm either in the trees or from the ground. To supervise climbers, you must attend the safety briefing with them and sign an additional disclaimer regarding your responsibilities and you must follow the children around the course and be able to verbally intervene if needed at all times. Ground supervisors cannot be responsible for any other children on the ground and children who are being ground supervised on a ratio of 1:4 cannot negotiate black elements as there isn’t adequate adult support in the trees should they need it on these challenging obstacles.
  • Our instructor will check on you regularly and be on hand for any support needed.
  • Allow between 2.5-3.5hrs to complete all activities.
  • No minimum or Maximum number required
  • Recreational sessions allow for children under age/height to climb subject to terms and conditions – Children aged 9.5 years and over 135cm can climb on recreational sessions only, in addition to all above supervision ratio’s providing they have 1:1 support in the trees due to them not meeting the official height and age requirements. You would need to check first with our bookings team on 01865 407316 if this could be accommodated on the day.
  • Please note the session is non-exclusive and there may be other climbers in the same session as your group
  • Free downloadable invites available
  • Asthmatics must have their own inhaler with them at all times in order to climb
  • Start times available:
  • 10am, 11am, 1.30pm, 2.30pm – all session start times require you to be onsite 5-10 mins before for registration. Please note we cannot accommodate late arrivals.

Questions and Answers for recreational sessions can be found on our FAQ page here

Questions & Answers for Instructor Led sessions only.

  • How many people can I book for?

We can fit 104 people on our course at anyone time.

  • Instructor led party with 1 instructor – £33.00 per child 10 years+ and a £30 instructor fee. Minimum group size 8 climbers, Maximum 10 climbers
  • Instructor led party with 2 instructors – £33.00 per child 10 years+ and £60 instructor fee. Minimum group size/charge based on  16 climbers, Maximum 20 climbers.
  • If your group size is between 11-20 climbers then you will need to book 2 instructor led sessions based on a minimum of 16 climbers.
  • Is My session Exclusive?

Yes!, There will not be any other groups or climbers being briefed at the same time as your group, your personal instructor will take you through our training zone and then on to the course.  There will be other climbers on the course but not being briefed at the same time as you.

  • Can a child under height or age attend the party?

I am afraid not, all climbers for our private instructor led sessions MUST be over 140cms and over the age of 10 years, it is an insurance requirement.  If you have children under height or age, you may want to consider one of our fantastic recreational high ropes sessions where additional adult supervision will be required.

  • When do I have to confirm my numbers?

Before you book. We are happy to provisionally book the session for you for 48hrs to enable you to check with your guests that the time and date is suitable for them. After this time you will need to secure the booking with full payment online. Please note that if you only book for 8, please only invite 8. Birthday parties are very popular and we can not guarantee we will have additional spaces on the day still available after you have initially booked. If you book for 8, and only 6 people can attend, the full amount based on the number you have initially booked is still due in full. On Booking you are required to pay the amount in full to book out a specific number of places, for a specific session date and time. In the event before, or on the day your numbers of guests attending are less than you have booked for, the full amount is still due for all places booked out. No refunds will be made and the session is non-transferable. Full payment will still be due for “No Shows”.

  • Do you have Invites

Yes we have invites for you to download with directions and disclaimer forms for parents of your guests to fill in.

  • Do I need to be Present?

Yes, we require one parent over the age of 18 years to be present on site during the party. You don’t have to be up in the trees, you can be feet firmly on the ground, with a cup of tea and a magazine!

  • Who is responsible for the children?

The party parent is still responsible for all the children, our instructor is there as a party host, to guide the climbers around the course, to make sure all the group are having fun and to provide support during the session.  As this is a private session, the parent has to be present but does not need take part.  As the instructor is exclusively looking after your group providing the party parent is present, no further adult supervision is required.

  • How do I book?

Our High Ropes Instructor led parties are not online as they are a specialist booking. Please call us on 01865 410074 or email highropes@oxfordadventurepark.com with details of ages of participants, how many, and dates that are suitable and we will get back to you.

If you have any more questions, please call 01865 410074

  • Asthma/Medical

In line with our insurance requirements we are only able to allow climbers with Asthma to take part in our activities if they have their inhaler with them at all times and they are able to administer this if needed. We can not allow any climbers to participate without the necessary medications to be able to treat them if needed, regardless of how long it has been since their last attack or how well managed it is.
